Avenue Shops has an occasional sale. Often we will not manually change the price of the item, but a discount will be applied at checkout. In these instances, you will need to create a discount on your site as well to pass along to your customers.

For Example purposes, we will use sale information from our BFCM 2020 sale

  • Tag: BFCM2020

During the sale, on the wholesale site all items will automatically be discounted off their current price (even if itโ€™s already discounted). No coupon code required, this discount will be taken off automatically in the cart. You will need to create the discount in your own Shopify, see below for How To.

Note: Any orders that come in via Ave Tech before the official start time, or after the official end time, will NOT be given the discount. And we won't refund it after the fact. So don't try and cheat the system by starting early, okay? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Setting up the sale should take less than an hour, with four simple steps:

  1. Create a Black Friday/Cyber Monday collection

  2. Create a x% off automatic discount

Note: Tags are used extensively in this sale setup guide. Ave Tech does an awesome job of updating product tags.

Create a Black Friday / Cyber Monday Sale collection

First you need to create a collection in Shopify that contains all products to be included in the x% off sale, which is all products with the with the BFCM2020 tag.

Again, this example shows the screenshots to set up a BFCM sale. You will want to following the same steps, just replace relevant fields with current sale info.

Step 1: In your Shopify back office click 'Products' then 'Collections' on the left, then 'Create collection' in the top right.

Step 2: Give your collection a name, something like 'Black Friday / Cyber Monday' would do just fine.

Step 3: There should automatically be one 'Product tag' condition there, so simply type BFCM2020 in the empty field.

Step 4: Click 'Add another condition' and change it to 'Inventory stock is greater than 0'. This makes it so sold out items won't appear in the sale collection.

When you're done you should have two conditions that look like this:

Step 5: Click 'Save' in the top right corner, then scroll down and click 'Refresh products'.

You should then see a list of products included in the collection. If not, double check the conditions (especially that the BFCM2020 tag is correct) and make adjustments, if needed.

Tip: If you want to include non-Ave items in the sale as well, simply add the BFCM2020 tag to the products you'd like to include.

Create a x% off automatic discount

You can now create an automatic discount for all the items included in the collection you just created.

Step 1: In your Shopify back office click on 'Discounts' on the left, then 'Automatic discounts' and 'Create automatic discount'.

Step 2: Name your discount (we like 'BFCM 2020 30% Off') and change the discount value to x%.

Step 3: In the 'APPLIES TO' section select the 'Specific collections' option, then search for and select the collection you just created.

Step 4: Change the 'Minimum purchase amount' to $1.00.

Step 5: Set the start date to 11/26/2020 and start time at 8am Mountain (7am Pacific, 9am Central, 10am Eastern), then check the 'Set end date' box and set the end date to the 12/1/2020 and end time at 11:59pm Mountain (10:59pm Pacific, for Central and Easter time zones the end date would be on the 7/13/2021 at 12:59am Central, 1:59am Eastern)

Step 6: Click the 'Save' button in the top right corner.

Your discount should now be set up to turn on and off at the right times, and automatically apply a x% discount at checkout for all the items included in the sale.
