Avenue Shops has an occasional sale. Often we will not manually change the price of the item, but a discount will be applied at checkout and automatically in Ave Tech when an order syncs in. In these instances, you will need to create a discount on your site to pass along to your customers.

For example purposes, we will use sale information from our Memorial Day 2024 sale

  • Tag: MemorialDay24

During the sale, on the wholesale site, all items will automatically be discounted off their current price (even if itโ€™s already discounted). No coupon code required, this discount will be taken off automatically in the cart. Any orders that sync into Ave Tech during the sale will be given the discount automatically as well. You will need to create the discount in your own Shopify, see below for How To.

Note: Any orders that come in via Ave Tech before the official start time, or after the official end time, will NOT be given the discount. And we won't refund it after the fact. So don't try and cheat the system by starting early, okay? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Setting up the sale should take less than an hour, with four simple steps:

  1. Create a Memorial Day automated collection

  2. Create a x% off automatic discount

Note: Tags are used extensively in this sale setup guide. Ave Tech does an awesome job of updating product tags.

Create a Memorial Day Sale collection

First you need to create a collection in Shopify that contains all products to be included in the x% off sale, which is all products with the MemorialDay24 tag.

Quick start guide on Automated Collections: Click here.

Again, this example shows the screenshots to set up a Memorial Day sale. You will want to following the same steps, just replace relevant fields with current sale info.

Step 1: In your Shopify back office click 'Products' on the left then 'Collections' on the drop-down menu. Then, 'Create collection' in the top right.

Step 2: Give your collection a name, something like 'Memorial Day Sale' would do just fine.

Step 3: Select 'Automated' for the collection type. This is what we recommend to utilize our tags and increase efficiency.

Step 4: Conditions

First, you need to add the product tag to pull in the desired products for the sale. From the drop-down menu from conditions select 'Product tag' > 'is equal to' > enter the sale tag. For this example, 'MemorialDay24'.

Click 'Add another condition' and change it to 'Inventory stock is greater than 0'. This makes it so sold out items won't appear in the sale collection.

When you're done you should have two conditions that look like this:

Step 5: Click 'Save' in the top right corner, then scroll down and click 'Refresh products'.

You should then see a list of products included in the collection. If not, double check the conditions (especially that the MemorialDay24 tag is correct) and make adjustments, if needed.

Tip: If you want to include non-Ave items in the sale as well, simply add the MemorialDay24 tag to the products you'd like to include.

Create a x% off automatic discount

You can now create an automatic discount for all the items included in the collection you just created.

Step 1: In your Shopify back office click on 'Discounts' on the left, then 'Amount off products'.

Step 2: Name your discount (we like 'MemorialDay50') and change the discount value to x%. (The % off you'll be passing along to your customers)

Select 'Automatic discount' at the top for the method so the discount applies automatically at checkout for your customers when one of the items in your automated collection is added to cart.

Step 3: In the 'Applies to' section select the 'Specific collections' option, then search for and select the collection you just created.

Step 4: Change the 'Minimum purchase amount' to $1.00.

Step 5: For this example, set the start date to Friday, May 24th @ 8 am MT/10 am ET then check the 'Set end date' box and set the end date to the Tuesday, May 28th @ 8 am MT/10 am ET.

If you'd like the discount to be able to be combined with other discounts, you have that option when setting up the discount here.

Step 6: You have two save options. Top and bottom right!

Your discount should now be set up to turn on and off at the right times, and automatically apply a x% discount at checkout for all the items included in the sale.
